XiangkouTing Tofu Pudding, established in 1988, is a go-to shop on Raohe Street with over 30 years of history. In the beginning, they mainly sold tofu pudding, but over the years, their menu has expanded with lots of different treats.
XiangkouTing Tofu Pudding has always stayed creative and innovative. Even though it's a long-established shop, it keeps up with the times. Whatever dessert you're craving, you'll find it here—shaved ice, snow ice, peanut soup, red bean soup, mango ice—you name it.
XiangkouTing Tofu Pudding is located closer to the Tayu Road side. I remember this place before because their outside wall is covered with posters of ice desserts, but it looked pretty messy, so I never tried it before.
Although there are many ice dessert posters outside the shop, making it easy to get overwhelmed by choices, at XiangkouTing Tofu Pudding, no matter what you order, it's all really good. Plus, all the pictures on the posters are actual photos of the real desserts—nothing exaggerated or overly decorated.
Taro is their signature item. If you get a chance to visit and you like taro, I highly recommend trying the taro with condensed milk ice.
If it's mango and strawberry ice treats, they're only available during the season.
XiangkouTing Tofu Pudding is now run by the second generation. When ordering, the owner is really busy and often says, "Wait a moment, I'll forget if I talk now." Since there's no menu to choose from and everything is ordered by speaking, it can be a bit tricky.
Even though the posters are all over the place, his workbench is pretty clean.
There are so many food options, and everything looks really tasty. The prices are also quite affordable, mostly just over 100 TWD dollars. Some of the more expensive places can go above 150 TWD dollars. XiangkouTing Tofu Pudding is fairly priced.
These days, besides shaved ice, there are lots of other options like shaved ice, red bean soup, peanut soup, mochi, and fried rice crackers. Whether you want cold or hot, we have it all. So, whether it's winter or summer, XiangkouTing Tofu Pudding is open, and you're welcome to come and enjoy!
From outside the store, your view is blocked by posters, but once you step inside, you'll see it's packed with people—business is super busy, and even many tourists come to visit. I just found out today that XiangkouTing Tofu Pudding is really popular and impressive.
Once you enter the restaurant, you need to find your own seat. After you find a seat, then you can order your food. As long as you find a seat, the food usually comes out really quickly after you place your order.
The tables inside the store are really new. The place is clean, and there's a little bit of cool air from the air conditioning, so the dining environment is pretty comfortable.
Shaved ice with three toppings (刨冰加三種料)
Our family uses Job's Tears, Red Beans, and Mung Beans. This portion costs 85 TWD, which isn't expensive.
I wasn't really expecting much, thinking shaved ice would be pretty ordinary. But after taking a bite, I was surprisingly impressed—way better than I thought.
The reason is that his shaved ice is very finely shaved, but not as fine as snowflake ice. When you eat it, you won't get big ice chunks, so it melts in your mouth smoothly and has an awesome texture.
And all of his toppings are homemade, not canned, so the taro, red beans, and mung beans all taste really fresh.
I especially like eating his Job's Tears because they aren't overcooked, so they have a little bit of firmness, which I really enjoy. The Taro flavor is also amazing, full of sweet honey taste.
You can really taste the strong brown sugar flavor in his syrup, almost like the deliciousness is bursting out. Everyone thinks it's great. Overall, it's a really tasty shaved ice.
Red Bean Matcha Shaved Ice (紅豆抹茶雪花冰)
This one costs 95 TWD. It has two toppings: red bean and matcha shaved ice, topped with some condensed milk.
The shaved ice is really good—super fluffy and melts in your mouth. The matcha flavor is really strong and Rich.
It's topped with plenty of condensed milk and red beans, so it's pretty good value. The red bean matcha shaved ice isn't bad, but compared to regular shaved ice, I still think shaved ice tastes better.
Peanut Bean Pudding with Condensed Milk and Peanut Brittle (花豆布丁煉奶花生磚)
There's Peanut and Peanut Snowflake Ice on the menu. The Peanut Snowflake Ice has a really rich peanut flavor, and the peanuts are big and plenty. The portions are quite generous.
Overall, it still feels a bit plain since everything is peanut-flavored. After a while, it can get pretty dull. Personally, I still think the Eight-Treasure Shaved Ice tastes better.
During my second visit, I ordered the Eight-Treasure Shaved Ice. But when I started eating, there was no air conditioning in the shop, so it was quite hot. The heat wasn't a problem, but the big fan overhead kept blowing warm air directly onto the ice. As soon as it was served, the ice started melting into water right away. The whole bowl just turned into a watery mess, and I ended up just drinking the liquid. It was a really disappointing experience.
